Another thought... isn't our state practically bankrupt right now, as with half the other states??? Let's put some focus on fixing these SERIOUS problems, instead of promoting bigotry!

I'm curious to how you think that writing bigotry into the state Constitution would some how "protect" your rights. Even if gays were allowed to marry, how would that somehow impair your existing rights?

No to SB 707 (Discrimination)
I'm a gay man dont see why discrimination against me should be any part of any constitution. There are people like myself and even straight people who can recognize that gay relationships are as real as straight relationships and I dont see why we should be treated differently by the government because of the majority of people dont understand or have religious beliefs against it. Where would interracial couples be today if we based their rights on a majority vote? I am a person, not a belief. My love for my partner is no different than a straight person's.
Do what you want in your church, but I am part of "We the People" just as much as anyone else, and my beliefs count too.

To any and all of you who feels that homosexual marriage is a bad thing:

The only motivation that these people have is love. They are looking to live together with the same love that you may - or may not - have for your spouses.

Whether you are comfortable with the word or not, denying the over eleven hundred rights that are afforded to you as heterosexual married couples to a group of people based on their sexual orientation is discrimination. Discrimination is not what this country - a secular country, I might add - is based on. 'We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal' is an important part of our heritage. In fact, it is the core tenant that our country is founded on.

The major difference between homosexuality and hatred is that homosexuals are born gay. People who hate have to learn how to hate.

As far as God goes, when He or She or It Him/Her/Itself speaks to me directly and tells me Their opinion on what makes a marriage, I won't presume to know what They intended it to be.

Shame on all of you.

There is no reason that two men or two woman shouldn't have the right to marry. For those of you who are so consumed with what "god intended", you should be more concerned with treating others the way you would like to be treated. I wouldn't doubt that at least one of you who has posted here to discriminate is homosexual yourself. It's time for the world to recognize everyone as equals and give gays the rights they deserve because the time for that is past due.

If you don't like same-sex marriages, don't get one. Churches have always had the authority to refuse to marry people; they can still do so. However, CIVIL marriage, meaning a marriage where religion is not involved, is a civil right. I feel safe in assuming you all consider yourselves Christians; I wonder how you would react if Buddhist/Hindu/Jewish/goodness forbid, MUSLIM laws were being forced on you, or if a group of people who disliked you got to decide whether your marriage was valid. Freely practice your own religion as the Constitution decrees, but have the decency to keep it out of other people's marriages.
