A Gathering Storm

April 14, 2009

The National Organization for Marriage launched this ad campaign to protect marriage and religious liberty throughout this nation. Please watch the 60-second ad and write a comment below about it.

47 Responses to “A Gathering Storm”

  1. Jarod Says:

This commercial has one goal and that is to create fear. A storm is not brewing because gay people are getting married. Real people aren’t even telling their stories, these are all actors talking about specific cases that have a lot more detail around them than what is revealed in 30 seconds. This commercial is just trying to create more fear towards gay and lesbian people which in turn creates more hate. Religous liberty to me is being able to sit in my church with my partner and be appreciated for the contributions we make, not being feared because we are creating a “gathering storm”.

  2. Emily Says:

    Great commercial!

@Jarod The commercial clearly states that they are actors portraying people in real-life stories. How does that take away from the message? Are you saying they’re lying? If you read those stories, you’ll see that their statements are the exact facts of the cases. The New Jersey church group mentioned was punished because they would not allow a civil union ceremony on their property. They did not forbid the lesbian couple from using the property ever, just for the civil union ceremony that is in direct contradiction with the beliefs of the group. Is there no other place for the couple to have a ceremony? Why should the state be telling businesses and organizations with whom they HAVE to do business? That’s the problem.

  3. Jarod Says:

Emily, in the case of New Jersey, “the church group was eligible for a tax exemption under the state’s Green Acres law, DEP found, because it said that the pavilion would be open to the public “on an equal basis.” The church entered into an agreement with the state that it would be available equally for equal use so thats why the state can tell them who they HAVE to do business with.
We did have a time when the state didn’t tell businesses who they should HAVE to do business with. That was a time when african americans sat in the back of the bus, drank from separate water fountains, had a separate waiting room at the train station, and even were not allowed to enter some places of business entirely.

  4. Kathy Says:

There is a fear, but it is not of people. It is of public policy that would infringe on religious liberty and personal values. The ad is about laws and the consequences of those laws. Is it religious freedom for the government to force a Catholic church to perform a Lutheran wedding? In the name of tolerance should a Jewish family sue a mosque because they can’t use the facility for a bar mitzvah? Should private citizens who vote for or support certain legislation be harrassed and persecuted and receive death threats? I think, Jarod, we would all like to just live our lives. But, unfortunately, there are those who are not content to allow others to believe differently and that is why there is a gathering storm.

  5. Phil Says:

    Kathy,

You have been taken in by the propaganda spewed forth on sites like this and others. In order to oppress gay people further, we must scare the ever-living daylights out of “believers” so that they throw their support behind trash like this commercial.

No one is asking Catholics to perform a Lutheran wedding (whatever that means) or forcing a mosque to hold a bar mitzvah (again, ridiculous).

We *WOULD* like to “just live our lives” – but until people begin to THINK about trash like this commercial and see this propaganda for what it is, we’ll continue to fight about it and be a country that is divided along pathetic, petty lines. I’ll leave you with two things to THINK about:

1.) Jesus never decried the evils of homosexuality…but he DID speak out roundly against divorce. Where is the church on this issue? Oh, yes, that’s right – we have no problem with it, unless you’re Catholic.

2.) Consider the words of Sinclair Lewis: “When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag, carrying the cross.” Sadly, I fear he may have been more on-target then he could have known when he wrote these words in 1935.

Perhaps if we all took a more intelligent view of this issue, rather than allowing PROPAGANDA to fuel our emotions, we may be able to come to an equitable soultion that exludes neither the homosexual nor the evangelical. But to do that, we need to approach this issue as Jesus would have – with an kind heart and an open mind, wishing to show first God’s love.

  6. Max Says:

We need more advertisements like this one. The reality is that the issue of same-sex marriage is more than just the same-sex couples:

The Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association in New Jersey did lose part of its state property tax exemption because they could not in good conscience host a same-sex union ceremony in their beachside pavilion property.

A California doctor was successfully sued for refusing to artificially inseminate a lesbian in a same-sex union.

Massachusetts schools do teach about same-sex marriage, over the objections of parents who have requested to have their kids opt out of such classes.

Same-sex marriage will impact my marriage because of its impact on children, schools and religious liberty.

  7. Sharon Says:

This is a very powerful message, and I hope that it reaches many fair minded people who believe in marriage between a man and a woman. It’s time we speak out against the fringe that have changed so much about this great land, it doesn’t start here, but in so many facets of American life that are being taken away.

Marriage is only intended for a man and a woman and should stay that way!!!!!!

  8. Susan Says:

Excellent ad. Pointing out that same sex marriage violates others rights is critical. More publicity can be done for medical professionals who will be denied when refusing to inseminate lesbians. Having my children come home and report that their assembly was promoting same sex marriage at school is an outrage……. the teachers are forcing the kids to accept that homosexuality is not a choice, but they are born that way and have every right to marry……..it removes our rights to opt out or have our children removed…..we were never told…instead as parents we are constantly rewinding and explaining to our children what we as Christians believe. Once we redefine marriage and add to just one man and just one woman..pandora’s box opens and precedents are established…what prevents someone from marrying 3 women or marrying their cousin or their dog or whatever! why not?

  9. L. Wood Says:

The message is excellent, but the visuals are strange, too apocalyptic and removed from real life. This commercial would have been better if people were making these points while going about their normal business.

I did not understand the point about same sex marriage advocates not allowing same sex couples to live as they wish.

  10. Jim Says:

I agree with Max and Kathy, although I think she could have chosen much better examples. We must continue to have the freedom to voice opposition to public policy that would infringe on our religious liberty and personal values.

  11. Mayra Says:

Jarod, you may not fear what can become of allowing gay marriage because you don’t care. I care and therefore I would not appreciate someone trying to influence my children into thinking that everything has to change to accept the way gays want to live. I don’t like being bullied around by groups who feel that their way of life, which is wrong, should be okay to do and that I need to be obligated to just be silent. Can a man and man have a baby? I rest my case. This life style is not appropriate and was never meant to be for mankind.

  12. Doug Says:

There surely is a storm coming, and the conflict over Biblical marriage is just one aspect of that storm. In this case, we can use a healthy dose of holy fear! God has blessed and protected this land for almost 250 years, but as we follow OUR idols instead of Him, why would he continue to protect us?

Scripture clearly views homosexuality as sinful behavior. God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve (that would have been the end of the story). God said it was not good for man to be alone, so he created Eve! Together, Adam and Eve (man and woman) reflect the image of God.

I know a number of people who have escaped (their term) the homosexual lifestyle. One of them referred to homosexuality as “an effort to fill a legitimate need in an illegitimate manor”. Homosexuality is sin, just as are fornication and adultery, which are even more rampant in our society. If we live in unrepentant sin, we lose our fellowship with our Creator, because He hates sin (but still loves the sinners).

As a married heterosexual, I don’t struggle with homosexuality, but I have plenty of other addictive struggles. It really boils down to whether we choose to live our lives for God or for ourselves.

  13. SueJean Says:

I feel mixed emotions after viewing this ad. NOM wants to do something; that I understand. Let’s begin by acknowledging our own need to work on relationships — with GOD, as well as with others. Many people need healthy tools to even know the “How do I have healthy relationships?” Let’s encourage each other to allow the Holy Spirit to shine His light into our own hearts and take care of the log in our eyes first.

  14. chris in pa Says:

I fail to understand. The pro same-sex people want the same ceremony, rites, priveledges, and more of traditional marriage. Don’t they realize that by inserting themselves into these situations , that they are making a verbal contract, between themselves and God. Yes, people divorce. They broke that contract too. They knew what they did.
The same-sex couples want to make a marriage contract but without God. They can go to a field or a brook to make their own contract without forcing a clergyman to dishonor his vow to God by making that person perform a religious ceremony. Marriage was established in the garden of Eden. Adam had half of the needed supplies to make a baby and Eve the other half. This was established to get descendants, oh, that includes those people who want to make marriage a SS affair.
SS people can also do all of this, halfway. They still need another person to complete the reason that marriage was instituted, by God, for getting children.
As much as I love my kids and understand the basics, there is no way that a woman could explain being a man to a boy and a man could explain being a woman to a girl. That is just one reason for one man and one woman in a marriage and why SS groups should just leave it alone.
Go be roommates, very devoted roommates. Leave marriage alone.

  15. Corey Says:

If you think this stops with same sex marriage, you are not only wrong, but naive. What is to stop 3 people from getting married? Or a person and a dog getting married? Marriage is ONE MAN and ONE WOMAN and should always be so. How can supreme court justices say they have to right to change the definition of marriage.

The part that bothers me is that it WILL show up in public schools, pushing the gay agenda in the states where it is “legal”. People love to throw the word “homophobic” around without thinking about it. This implies fear. I don’t know anyone who is afraid of homosexuality. I know a LOT of people who don’t want the gay agenda shoved down their throats.

If someone makes a personal choice to be gay, that is their call. But keep the agendas to yourself, without trying to force everyone agree with your point of view.

  16. Ted Says:

I liked the commercial. It shows the negative consequences with the laws changing to allow same sex marriage. Religious freedom is in jeopardy.

This county was founded on Christian principles, and those principles are that marriage is between a man and a women. As this country moves more and more away from God, we will lose more and more of the country we know and love.

  17. Julie Says:

It is nice to see the Christians of the world unite and produce commercials that show the effects of too much tolerance. Yes, Jesus was tolerant, but after each of his merciful healings or judgments, he told the sinner to “go and sin no more.” The Bible is clear in both the Old Testament (Leviticus 18:22) and the New Testament (Romans 1:26-32) that homosexuality is an abomination to the Lord. When this country was formed, God prospered it because He was the center of its attention. Many fought and died defending our right to worship God freely. Now there are many personal agendas being forced on Christians in the name of tolerance, and the result is Christians losing too many of their own rights. Stand up, American Christians, and fight for the God we love and Who loves us. Be bold in your faith and stand up for your Christian rights, or else see what happens in the rest of Chapter 18 in Leviticus (verses 24-30).

  18. Phil Says:

Too much tolerance, Julie? That’s rich. I wonder if God showed “too much tolerance” when he gave His Son to die for ALL of our sins.

There’s clearly no intelligent debate here. This is a site where narrow-minded people can get together and share their fears. A marriage between cousins? Beastiality? Are you SERIOUS? Or just ill-informed?

And Chris, may I remind you that “marriage” is a LEGAL contract? Church has nothing to do with it. If you want a religious ceremony, great. But the church does not have to sanctify a marriage in order for it to be valid.

You folks need to realize that your world view is not only inaccurate, but also extraordinarily narrow. Know that you don’t speak for all Christians, gay or straight. I will continue working for the rights of ALL people and working to combat the ignorance that is displayed here; but it’s obvious that any continued posting here by people of differing views would be futile.

  19. LRS Says:

Great video! Its time to expose the threats that gay marriage bring to the traditional family. These may be paid actors, like all professionally done commercials, but they represent true happenings in the US. If gay marriage is made law, my children will be forced to be taught in school that this is normal, whether or not it goes against our beliefs. No one is banning homosexuals from living the life they choose, just don’t call it marriage and force it in our communities. Studies repeatedly show that children are healthier in a home with a mom and a dad.

  20. Linda Maloney Says:

Thank you so much to the NOM for making America aware of the dangers of same sex marriage to the citizens of these United States. Your efforts are very much appreciated in these dark days of relatism and people thinking that they can decide for themselves what is right and what is wrong. We all ought to know that only God know whats best and he has given us a reliable instruction book.

  21. Jane Says:

Satan’s counterfeit of God’s plan for marriage is indeed a tragedy in our culture. He promises a lot but never is able to deliver. In the case of marriage, only the God ordained model, one man and one woman, can bring the real fulfillment and blessing that He intended — all aspects of his character in one union, producing the blessing of offspring.

  22. JEFF Says:

I enjoyed the commercial. But what confuses me is how selfish we are. Many of the comments from the gay view points are about what they want. Christ did not give His life for us so that we can do what ever we want and still say we love Him. The Bible speaks very clearly about sin. Not only homosexuality(1 Cor.6:9-11) but about many and Jesus died so that we may be sanctified. Our desire should be to please Him not ourselves. Sometimes burdens seem to great to overcome but that is why Jesus came and sufferd as He did, He is the great overcomer. We all sin but our goal as Christians(to be Christ like) is to live a life that is pleasing to Him not ourselves. After 2000 years we still don’t get it. It is not about us! God does equal love for everyone. But He also HATES sin, so our goal in pleasing Him should not be to tolerate everyones desires but only God,s.

  23. Jarod Says:

There are 3 fundamental misconceptions about homosexuality that people need to change before they can accept gay marriage. I know the people can change because I have, my family and friends have, and members of my church family have.
    1. Homosexuality is a choice: It is NOT a choice. If it were I choice I would like someone on here to tell me when they chose heterosexuality. Did you weigh the pros and cons? Where there things about homosexuality that you liked, but overall found heterosexuality more appealing? Did you try them both out?
    2. Homosexuality is a sin: It is NOT a sin. The 7 verses that are always used to say it is a sin have more context around them. Do we wear polyester, do we eat shrimp? Well then we sin in this way too (Leviticus). It was never talked about in any sermon or parable by Jesus, the 10 commandments, or beatitudes.
    3. If children are exposed to this they will become homosexual: You can NOT become homosexual, see point 1 (you are either born wiht it or not). But what it will do is help a lot of children / young adults understand that what they feel is normal, they are not going to hell, they are just as good as their heterosexual friends at school. They can be contributing members of church. God made them gay, God loves them gay, and they can someday commit to their special someone in a public ceremony of joy just as their other friends are doing.

  24. JD Says:

This advert conveys a legitimate concern which many of us have over some of the social changes underway. However, whether one argues from natural law or Christian principles, Christians will be accused of bigotry, and arguments from the Bible will probably fall on deaf ears. But as to Scripture, quite apart from those plain-speaking texts which denounce homosexuality, there’s a clear theme of male-female union running throughout the New Testament: Christ and the Church — Groom and Bride. This underpins the doctrine of present Election and future salvation, and is the basis for church organization. Whatever authority the advocates of same-sex ‘marriage’ wish to draw on, leave the Bible out of it. Marriage is implicitly sexual; the same-sex variety requires redefining the purpose of sexuality. It’s not just about ‘love’.

  25. Heather Says:

    In reply to Jarod,
1.)Homosexuality can be a choice. Have you ever heard of Exodus, International? Research it. Also even if you don’t believe it’s a choice, should we act on sexual impulses just because we have them? There are good reasons for chastity- disease and societal wounds being two.
2.)It is a sin, read your Bible more thoroughly. However, this doesn’t mean homosexuals should be persecuted. Hate the sin, love the sinner. Also from a more secular perspective, look at what happens to more permissive cultures throughout history that have allowed homosexual and other immoral behaviors. What happened to the Greeks and people who lived in Pompeii? Maybe there are reasons why their cultures faded from grandeur or were buried by a volcano.
3.) Confusing children by exposing them to brainwashing in public school by the leftist members of our culture has no place in education.

Anyway, regarding the ad, I think it will help people see this issue from a side that has been downplayed by the media and popular culture. You can’t infringe on religious rights just because a minority of the population wants a special class of rights for themselves. Trying to legislate how people should think (as in public education) is not the government’s job. It’s the parent’s job. You can’t separate a person’s beliefs from their work and if more people would stand up for their convictions against the minority we’d be better off as a nation.

  26. Arlene Knight Says:

I, also, think this is an excellent advertisement. After over 200 years as a nation, why do some people feel that we now need to change the principles on which this nation was founded? Whether you are a Christian or not, homosexuality is wrong and should not be promoted as normal. If some people choose to live that way, that is their right. BUT they do not have the right to force their beliefs on me. I find it amazing that such a small minority think they have the right to change the lives of the majority. God does not hate the homosexuals; he loves them, but he does hate their sin. And I feel the same way. We

  27. Nancy Says:

The Gay & Lesbian are not “tolerant” with the Christian faith community; however, they want people to be tolerant of their lifestyle. They should practice tolerance first, before they expect to get it in return. Christians do not hate, nor do they try to stir up hate — Christians just want to keep their religious freedoms from being taken away from them.

  28. Noel Says:

May our dear Lord have mercy on us! I congratulate JEFF for his insight. It is not about us. It is about God.

  29. Karren Says:

Thank you for presenting the real issue here. Others would like to portray those opposed to same-sex marriage as evil, hate-filled, etc. The truth is that this movement will radically change our social structure. Every society that has moved in that direction in the past has disintegrated. It no longer exists.

It is time for us to wake up and realize the final outcome of this movement. No one is adovcating against individuals. Every person deserves honor and respect.

  30. JEFF Says:

Those who say that homosexuality is not a chioce but that you are born this way are not following thier logic to it’s conclusion. If you ar born with this propinsity towards the same sex then I would also argue that those who lie or those that cheat on thier spouse or those that murder or those that like young children or those that over eat, that they are also born with this propinsity. Yet thankfully we all do not act on these propinsities. And further if you don’t believe the Bible would list homosexuality as a sin, then you are decieving yourself. The Bible is all about love but nowhere does it teach anything but heterosexuality. Someone earlier mentioned Leviticus to say we are sinning by not following all that is written there. As Christians we no longer live under the law of the old testiment but under the new covenant. So that arguement does really work. If we would think of others needs more often then our own desires we would all be better off.

  31. Terry Stuart Says:

Today I watched the ad in a computer room. There was no sound with the commercial as the sound was turned off. Same sex marriage is against the teachings of the Bible and it is also against the way that our country was founded. In the creation of the Earth God made a man. Then He made a woman. He willed for the man and the woman to marry and commanded them to, “Be fruitful and multiply,” (bring forth children). In the New Testament Jesus is the Groom and Christians make up the Bride. It also says that a man is to love his Wife. By coming against marriage between a man and a woman Gays and Lesbians are coming against God and His will. God wills that a man and a woman marry and have children and their children marry and have children. Same sex marriage couples can’t give birth to children and their lifestyle wont succeed. It should be illegal for same sex couples to take away the right of others to believe in God and do what they feel is proper and right, according to the teachings of the Bible. It’s not fair for same sex couples to do what they want to do and to tell everybody else that they can’t do what they think and feel is right. The Constitution of the United States and it’s Amendments cannot change. They are the Law of the land. These were written by Christian men who believed that marriage was between a man and a woman. That is why our country is prosperous and great. Adopted children of a same sex marriage will be confused as they become older as they wont know who gives them teaching and correction and who gives them love and care. Same sex marriage is like a disease. It starts in one area and eventually will take over the whole body if not given medication to heal and remove the disease. It’s time for the United States to be healed!

  32. Dennis and Alice Boel Says:

Your Ad is outstanding and much appreciated. We are with you all the way on the issue and value that is so important.
When humanity attempts to change what God has put in place
and instituted, that society and culture reaps terrible
consequences. So we pray and as we as a couple have done,
time and again contacted our government representatives both
state and federal urging them to uphold by their votes that
marriage is between one man and one woman and proven in studies best for children to have a father and mother.

May the tea parties which have been evident across the nation include marriage between one man and one woman
also include this traditional value so much part of the
basic fabric of this nation called the United States of America.

  33. Robin Says:

I totally agree with this message! Let the people have a say! Let the people vote! Our religious beliefs and rights are being infringed upon. We should have a choice. This is Christian discrimination. Marriage is between a man and a woman. There is no such thing as same-sex marriage!

  34. Ed Says:

I agree with the message being conveyed. The entire issue of same-sex marriage is to erode and minimize the institution of marriage between a man and a woman. In most corporations “domestic partners” are given the same benefits as married couples. Some of the arguments for Gay marriage are for tax benefits afforded married couples, inheritance and social acceptance. Having just finished my tax preparation I believe our current tax laws penalize married couples. Wills as well as Living directives can be made to ensure that an individual’s wishes are carried out. Finally, in regard to social acceptance it is largely based on an individual’s behavior rather than their marital status. Many companies have formulated diversity councils and contribute financially to Gay and Lesbian events. If I approached my company to form a religious employees group or to request a contribution it would surely be denied. So where is the discrimination in our secular society? It is against religion, heterosexual marriage and pro-life. Right on with your vignette!

  35. Charity Says:

Absolutely! Let the people VOTE! How many times will California have to Vote, and how many different ways can you phrase the same question? I would like to see more of the sameof this message. I do not see fear except the fear of being forced to believe something I don’t and then being punished for it. I do not see hate expressed toward a people who choose to fight for Homosexual rights but I do see hate for those who are standing up for what they believe to be right. The Marriage is the foundation of the family. The family is the foundation of the community, and the community the Nation! If we protect Marriage We protect the Nation!

  36. charlie Says:

I am thankful to the message and am praying that most americans still hold to the values found in God’s word the Holy Bible and one of those values is marriage as man and woman. Almighty God rejects same sex behavior calling it pervers and sin. We need to protect marriage. if God’s values are farther eroded in this nation then we are inviting more of God’s judgement

  37. Gilbert Coleman Says:

This is a message that is both timely and provacative. Given the present lack of spirituality in our society today, a challenge needs to be given to our nation’s people to ultimately get back to God. I am deepenly saddened by the number of politicians, and activist judges that see nothing wrong with passing laws that promote immoral behavior, totally ignoring the pronciples on which this nation was founded. Please keep doing what you are doing.

  38. Sharon Says:

Thank you for the message of this advertisement.

Homosexuals want us to be tolerant [read:accept] of their lifestyle while they go around trying to get all the laws changed in favor of how they believe and/or feel; yet when Christians oppose that we are called intolerant homophobics. Isn’t what they are doing [imposing their way of life on us] intolerant too? I get discouraged when I hear Christians say it’s not their fight…but it is, as it will affect our children in the long run. We too, need to stand up for what we believe…marriage to one man & one woman only!

  39. Mary Says:

Pennsylvania has a state law which is our Pennsylvania Domestic Relations Code which states: “It is hereby declared to be the strong and longstanding public police of this Commonwealth that marriage shall be between one man and one woman. A marriage between persons of the same sex which was entered into in another state or foreign jurisdiction, even if valid where entered into, shall be void in this Commonwealth.” This is all well and good, but, Iowa had a state law also which was recently overturned. We need an amendment to Pennsylvania’s Constitution.

  40. Jarod Says:

I’m a homosexual Christian. We can have gay marriage and still worship God.

  41. Cynthia Butowicz Says:

Because we are a Republic we must allow different opinions to be voiced. Freedom of speech is paramont to remain a free nation governed by the elected of the people. This being said, we have the obligation to make sure that the will of the people is carried out by said officials. Where do our laws come from? Morality and conscience are from God and His word. Those who choose to believe are bound by His will. This is why we fight for our right to teach our children God’s will for us. This is not a battle against but one for our right to think and teach what is above political correctness but sovereign over all mankind. Homosexuals are God’s children who have choosen to live outside His will, which we all do when we choose to sin.
Tolerance was the first buzz word, now that has expanded to promotion and approval in our schools, workplace and the last bastion in our churches, promote or be put out and ridiculed. The buck stops here, now is the time to show ourselves worthy if we deny Christ before men He will deny us before the Father.

  42. Chuck Says:

This is for Jarod and other like minded people: Jarod believes “God made me Gay”. Please show me, Jarod, where God made you gay. I don’t find that in any Christian Bible I have read. And getting back to the basics, it seems to me, when God created Adam & Eve, that demonstrated what God intended for the propagation of humans. I believe the reason gay people are gay is because of the environment they lived through, but more importantly, the wrong choices we can make in life, because of our human sin nature, which is in all of us. I do believe God loves what He made, but I also believe He is Holy and cannot look upon sin. The only way He can love us is through His Son, Jesus, who is there for any of us humans to call upon, to help us overcome our sin nature. Jesus can be our “sin bearer” if we choose Him. And remember, our Nation is founded upon a Judeo-Christian faith. By the way, the God I am talking about is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob! Jarod, and all other like minded people, I will pray that you see the LIGHT!

  43. John Says:

Let your church call you married to whomever you want, live your life the way you want. I am opposed to giving special state rights of marriage to those who have not been created, designed or evolved (take your pick) to go together. It is not natural or normal. This is a ‘self-evident’ truth, who can’t see this? I don’t want my society and country to call something good and to be honored with special benefits that goes against the very natural order of the universe. Sorry for the vitriolic hatred but I’ve been genetically programmed, it’s not my fault. I’m going to go angrily and irrationally smash things now because it will make me feel good.

  44. John Says:

PS I’m not too jazzed about this video ad. The appeal to fear is too prominent for my liking, and if it is supposed to reach those ‘on the fence’ on the issue I don’t think it will be effective in that regard.

  45. Jarod Says:

Chuck, first of all I think its interesting that you say people are gay because of the environemnt they live through. If that was the case my whole church would be gay! I was brought up in a normal christian family in rural Pennsylvania. There will not be a specific passage in the Bible that says God created a gay man, just as there are not specific passages around the millions of variations we see in humans. God did create Adam and Eve as a plan for procreation, but why should that mean that no other types of people can exist? I understand its hard, if not impossible for someone who is not gay to understand. But when you are gay you feel the difference between a temptation that is a sin, and something that is “you”. Being gay is so deep that it is part of who we are, the same as our height, hair color, and other characteristics we can’t control. But most importantly I know it isn’t a sin because I have a personal relatonship with God, the same God you reference, and he has assured me of this.

  46. Lesley Crane Says:

See Sodom and Gomorrah. If we do not wake up and speak up and protect what we believe, we (as a nation) will face the same fate. Unfortunately we are most likely to sin when we are desparate for what we feel we must have. That is not just a homosexual relationship, that is anything that separates us from the will of God. It is the Holy Spirit who must convict of us our sin. Without the presence of the Holy Spirit dwelling within us and convicting us of our sin we would all live conviction free of what we are doing.
