On the road in Scranton: “Can you tell me how to get to route 11?”
July 26, 2007
We were coming from opposite directions so we decided to meet at a roadside diner on rt 11. Â Christine got lost coming off the turnpike. She pulled over 3 times to try to figure out where rt 11 was. Unknowingly, she was already on rt 11. She then realized why she was continually met with blank stares. Finally, she found a friendly mailman with a long ponytail who gave her great directions to the diner.
After meeting up, we began our afternoon visits with pastors. Christine got free stickers(show still of Christine’s car with
sticker); Eleanor got embarrassed. What a great day of meetings and new friendships! To top it off, we were lucky enough to run into a wedding party just about to climb into their limo. The bride shared her excitement as she clutched her white roses and tearily recounted her first date with her husband to be.
Christine and Eleanor enjoyed walking around Scranton with its beautiful architecture, especially the Lackawanna train station and old churches. Eleanor learned about Krispy Kreme but never did catch the red light on. These two days confirmed two things: marriage is alive and well in the Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre area and all roads lead to route 11…
Until Next Time,

Saw your billboard on 81N and was intrigued. It started a conversation in the car between my husband and I. 27 years of marriage and 3 kids, where would those 3 kids be without his support and love? Probably not as far or as successful and well-adjusted as they are now. A woman should not do this alone… and if you have a son as we do, I don’t think 2 women as ‘role models’ works either…
